Dr Liew is an Adelaide orthopaedic surgeon who exclusively performs total hip replacements and total knee replacements. He is an international trainer of the techniques and is one of Australia’s most high value arthroplasty surgeons.
Dr Chien-Wen Liew is a fellowship-trained orthopaedic surgeon based in Adelaide, specialising in diseases and disorders of the hip and knee. He completed his orthopaedic training through the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons and undertook subspecialty fellowship training in hip and knee replacement.
Dr Liew has a particular interest in total hip replacement using the Direct Anterior Approach (DAA), a muscle-sparing technique that offers faster rehabilitation and a lower risk of dislocation compared with traditional approaches. He also performs robotic-assisted hip and knee replacement surgery using the Mako™ system.
Dr Liew is now exclusively performing total hip replacements and total knee replacements. He feels that a narrow focus allows him to dedicate all his attention and effort to perfecting the art of these procedures.
